The wine: Pinot Noir from Chehalem Mountain Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountain AVA in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
The music: This Is the Modern World bristles with smarts from its first defiant shout. A declaration of youth, of independence, a rough delivery and a sharp-eyed message. Nobody's fools, then or now.
Price: $21/bottle, 15% discount on case purchases (a case contains 12 750ml bottles, and you can mix different wines that are currently available in your case).
Technical notes: These grapes are from self-rooted vines that were some of the first planted in Oregon by Dick Erath in the 1970s. Picked on October 7th, the must underwent a 5-day cold soak before starting natural fermentation that lasted for two weeks. The wine was aged for one year in mostly neutral french oak barrels before being bottled under cork closure at 12.9% alcohol and 3.41 pH. 125 cases produced.
